Our ZeroPath rebate rewards new homes that are:
- constructed to be energy efficient; and
- better than the current 2015 National Building Code standards.
Eligibility
Highly energy efficient homes built in the Yukon within the past six months that have had a post-construction energy assessment completed by a registered Residential Energy Advisor.
For full eligibility requirements please read the detailed terms and conditions.
Rebate amount
- $10,000 for ZeroPath 60 homes with an annual energy consumption at least 60 per cent less than the same home built to the minimum 2015 National Building Code standards.
- $5,000 for ZeroPath 50 homes with an annual energy consumption that is 50-59.4 per cent less than the same home built to the minimum 2015 National Building Code standards.
Estimated annual energy consumption is based on the home’s heating and hot water energy consumption as determined by an energy assessment. Electrical baseloads (for example lighting, refrigeration, basic appliances) and renewable energy generation are not included in the calculation.
You can get an additional $1,500 when you install an air-source heat pump in your new home.

Achieving the thermal energy target
The thermal energy targets mean that homes must use 50% or 60% less of the heating and hot water energy as the same home built to the 2015 building code. This is a challenging but achievable goal. Ways to reduce thermal loads include:
- positioning the home to maximize solar gains;
- increasing insulation levels;
- achieving a very air-tight building envelope;
- upgrading, relocating or reducing windows;
- installing a heat pump; or
- installing a drain-water heat recovery.
Testing for radon
Improving the air tightness of your home can result in higher levels of radon inside your home. We recommend testing your home for radon. Learn more about how to take action on radon.
