Apply for a rebate when you buy new electric transportation devices

Electric transportation rebates ended on March 31, 2026

You can still apply for rebates on purchases made on or before March 31, 2026. You have 1 year from the date of the purchase to submit your rebate application.

Get 25 per cent of the purchase price up to a maximum of $750 to $2,500 depending on the size of the battery, for an e-transportation device.  

You can get a rebate on the purchase of a new:

  • motorcycle;
  • snowmobile;
  • all-terrain vehicle;
  • tractor;
  • electric boat; or
  • other e-transportation device.

Eligible Products 

The e-transportation device must: 

  • be powered by an electric battery or motor;
  • be purchased before April 1, 2026;
  • not use fossil fuels;
  • not be purchased from a crowd-funding website;
  • be intended to transport people; and
  • be new and purchased from a business operating in Canada.

Products that fit the electric bike or electric vehicle rebate requirements should apply under those rebates.

Quantity Limit 

  • 5 devices per individual.
  • 10 devices per business, organization, municipality or First Nation.

Rebate Amount

The maximum rebate amount is 25 per cent based on the size of the device’s battery in kilowatt hours (kWh): 

  • up to $750 if the battery is less than 2.5 kWh;
  • up to $1,500 if the battery is between 2.5 kWh and 14.9 kWh; or
  • up to $2,500 if the battery is 15 kWh or larger 

We calculate the rebate on the cost of the e-transportation device. It excludes costs such as:

  • accessories;
  • shipping; or
  • assembly.

Apply for the rebate

At the time of purchase

You may have received a rebate directly from the vendor when you bought the transportation device. In this case, you do not need to do anything else.

After your purchase

Rebates are only available for vehicles purchased before April 1, 2026. If you did not receive the rebate at the time of purchase you can apply online or use the application form to apply by mail or in person. You must provide:

  • invoices or receipts and proof of payment;
  • documentation stating the size of the device’s battery in kilowatt hours (kWh); and
  • for devices purchased outside of the Yukon, proof that the product was shipped to the Yukon (e.g., delivery slip or shipping receipt) or is registered in the Yukon.

You'll receive a rebate by cheque or e-transfer (Sign up for direct deposit payments) within 12 weeks.
