Tesla eligibility update

As of April 3, 2025, Tesla vehicles are no longer eligible for this rebate. Tesla vehicles purchased before April 3, 2025, can still qualify for this rebate and will be processed as normal. 

Eligibility

Eligible vehicles

Vehicles must:

  • be new;
  • be registered in the Yukon; and
  • not have received another jurisdictions zero emission rebate. 

You can purchase your vehicle in the Yukon or import it.

Rebate limit

2 rebates per individual.

10 rebates per business, organization, First Nation government or municipal government.

Rebate amount

$5,000 for a new vehicle operated by:

  • battery-electric motor; or
  • plug-in hybrid electric motor with an all-electric range of 50 kilometres or greater.

$3,000 for plug-in hybrid vehicles with an all-electric range of less than 50 kilometres.

If you have a lease, your rebate will be pro-rated on the length of the agreement. You'll receive the full rebate if your lease is 3 years or more.

Apply for your rebate

At the time of purchase

You may receive a rebate directly from the vendor when you buy your vehicle. In this case, you do not need to do anything else. Vendors can download the vendor application form to offer rebates at the time of purchase.

After your purchase

If you did not receive a rebate at the time of purchase you can apply online or use the application form to apply by mail or in person. You must provide:

  • your bill of sale or lease document;
  • proof of vehicle registration in Yukon; and
  • a New Vehicle Information Statement.

You'll receive a rebate by cheque or e-transfer (Sign up for direct deposit payments) within 12 weeks.

The Government of Yukon is electrifying the Yukon’s roadways by installing electric vehicle fast charging stations in all road-accessible communities of the Yukon. These fast charging stations are available for public use.

If your business invests in green technologies and equipment, you may also be eligible for a Super Green Credit. This credit is available as part of the Yukon’s carbon rebate program.

Facts on zero-emission vehicles

  • Battery-electric vehicles can travel from 190 to over 400 kilometres per charge.
  • Charging your vehicle at home costs about $40 per month for around 20,000 kilometres of use per year.
  • Zero-emission vehicles have fewer parts and require less maintenance on average than conventional cars.
  • Despite reduced range in colder temperatures, zero-emission vehicles are suitable for daily winter driving. They may offer better traction and torque than a similar conventional vehicle in winter conditions.
  • There is a variety of options and ranges of zero-emission vehicles, including minivans.
  • We're investing in increasing the number of fast charging stations across the territory.
