As a registered Yukon commercial timber harvester, you can apply for funding through the Forest Sector Fund. This program can help you though 3 streams:
- Increase your harvesting capacity
- Improve your short-term cash flow
- Access the building log incentive
As a commercial timber harvester, you can apply for the reimbursement of eligible purchases and services to increase your harvesting capacity.
- This funding helps you:
- improve the efficiency and safety of your operations;
- address barriers to growth; and
- provide a stable supply of timber products in the Yukon.
Who can apply
To qualify for funding, you must:
- be a Yukon-registered commercial timber harvester;
- have a Yukon Corporate Registry number that’s valid for the application period;
- be up to date on all reporting requirements under your licence and permits at the time you apply; and
- have paid all required fees under the Forest Resources Act.
Eligible costs
- Harvest equipment
- Work vehicles (including trailer)
- Personal protective equipment
- Planning costs
- Administration costs (income tax or accounting support)
- Project specific labour costs
Maximum funding amounts
Funding amounts depend on your harvest category:
- Harvest categories 1 to 3
- You may receive 100 per cent reimbursement, up to $1,000.
- Harvest category 4
- You may receive 75 per cent reimbursement, up to $20,000.
- Harvest category 5
- You may receive 75 per cent reimbursement, up to $35,000.
Application deadlines
You must submit your application on or before March 20, 2026.
To be eligible, expenses must occur after November 3, 2025.

This funding stream aims to help commercial timber harvesters with short-term cash flow shortages. The goal of the funding is to minimize disruption to the wood supply chain and ensure that Yukoners continue to have access to fuel wood.

This funding stream is currently fully subscribed. You can still apply for capacity building support or the building log incentive at the top of this page.
We’re incentivizing the harvest of building logs to increase their supply to Yukon log home and cabin builders. As a commercial harvester, you can apply for funding to diversify your operations.
Who can apply
To qualify for funding, you must:
- be a Yukon-registered commercial timber harvester supplying building logs to log home and cabin builders;
- supply logs intended to form the walls or structure of a building;
- provide receipts detailing the date and volume of wood purchased from log home and cabin builders with the application;
- have a Yukon Corporate Registry number that’s valid for the application period;
- be up to date on all reporting requirements under your licence and permits at the time you apply; and
- have paid all required fees under the Forest Resources Act.
Maximum funding amounts
- Harvester categories 1 to 3
- You may receive $10 per cubic metre, up to $2,000.
- Harvester category 4
- You may receive $10 per cubic metre, up to $5,000.
- Harvester category 5
- You may receive $10 per cubic metre, up to $5,000.
