Submit your Community Development Fund application online

The Community Development Fund is no longer accepting paper or PDF applications. Follow the instructions below to submit your application through the online fund management system. 

The Community Development Fund (CDF) provides funding for projects, events and initiatives that provide long-term, sustainable economic and social benefits to Yukon communities.

Eligible organizations

  • Registered non-profit societies
  • Not-for-profit corporations incorporated under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act based in the Yukon
  • Charitable organizations
  • Municipal and First Nations governments
  • First Nation development corporations undertaking community-level initiatives

Eligible projects and events

  • New construction projects
  • Renovations, restorations and other physical improvements to buildings or lands
  • Knowledge or skill development
  • Research and planning
  • Programs and events
  • Physical items or advertising for art-based projects

Project and event criteria

  • Create economic benefits such as generating local spending, creating employment opportunities or building infrastructure.
  • Bring new money into the Yukon from outside sources.
  • Develop skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Create social benefits such as strengthening social and community networks, building partnerships and facilitating community involvement.
  • Support the community’s long-term wellbeing.
  • Have measurable social, cultural and economic benefits for Yukon residents and communities.

Available funding

Funding is available for up to 90 per cent of the total project or event costs:

  • Tier 1: $20,000 or less
  • Tier 2: $20,001 to $75,000
  • Tier 3: over $75,000

Application deadlines

Submit your application by 4:30 pm on the day of the deadline. If this falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline moves to 4:30 pm on the next business day. 

  • Tier 1: January 15, May 15, July 15 and October 15
  • Tier 2: April 15 and September 15
  • Tier 3: January 15

Before you apply

Contact a CDF advisor before the deadline to talk about your project. We’re available year-round to: 
•    provide guidance; and 
•    review draft applications.

What you need to apply

Application form

Submit a completed application form online.

Proof of eligibility

Provide proof of:
•    compliance with Government of Yukon Corporate Affairs; or
•    a federal charitable status certificate or tax number.

Project funding details

Include:
•    how you’ll meet the minimum 10 percent project equity requirement;
•    at least 2 price quotes for any budget item over $1,000;
•    confirmation of in-kind contributions or donations, if applicable; and
•    confirmation of other sources of funding, if applicable.

Operations and maintenance costs

Provide confirmation that you’ll be responsible for any ongoing operations and maintenance costs resulting from your project.

Project support

Provide letters of support from community partners or stakeholders.

Authority to apply

You need authority to sign and submit the application on behalf of your organization.

Supporting documents

Provide copies of any applicable or required:
•    permits;
•    environmental assessments; and
•    other supporting documents, such as leases or proof of land ownership.
