Find out how the government helps to make electricity more affordable

The Government of Yukon provides relief on residential electricity rates through 2 main programs.

The Affordability Rate Relief program

This program lowers residential electricity costs by 2.674 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the first 1,000 kWh per month. That’s a maximum rebate of $26.74 per month. The temporary cost savings will appear on your January, February and March 2026 bills. It helps offset the January 2026 electricity rate increase while we work on more affordable and reliable energy solutions.

The Winter Electrical Affordability Rebate (WEAR) program

The WEAR program helps with the cost of electricity during the colder months. From October 2025 to March 2026, residential customers receive a rebate of 3.377 cents per kWh, to a maximum of 1,000 kWh hours per month. That’s a maximum rebate of up to $33.77 per month.
