Learn about freshwater quality

Water quality is the chemical and biological characteristics of water. Measurements of these various characteristics tell us how healthy the water is for living things such as fish and other aquatic life.

It is important to monitor freshwater quality over time to help us understand natural or human-caused changes to aquatic environments. The Government of Yukon collects freshwater quality data for long-term monitoring projects that increase our understanding of freshwater quality in the Yukon.
