Congratulations to Tammy Wood, winner of the 2026 A Celebration of Swans art competition!

Posters are distributed across the Yukon to raise awareness about A Celebration of Swans. This is annual festival takes place during the month of April at the Swan Haven Interpretive Centre.
About the artwork
Tammy Wood’s artwork is featured on this collectible poster designed by Jen Edwards of Sprucetip Design.
“Beneath the Surface" explores the quiet curiosity of what is unseen. Inspired by watching swans feed, this piece imagines their graceful bodies transformed below the waterline — elegant above, intent and searching beneath. While the surface suggests calm and beauty, below it is a world of effort, movement and purpose.
The painting invites the viewer to consider how much of life, nature, and ourselves exist out of sight, reminding us that what appears serene often holds depth, complexity, and quiet determination underneath. -Tammy Wood.
About the artist
Originally from Prince George, BC, Tammy Wood has called the Yukon home for over 20 years, exploring its quiet corners alongside her family. She works in watercolour, drawn to its natural flow and sense of curiosity — how it drifts, settles and gently reveals itself. Her practice is rooted in a deep curiosity with nature and wildlife, and with what is often overlooked: the small gestures, fleeting moments and quiet forms of presence that shape our connection to the natural world. Through her work, she invites a slower way of seeing and a more attentive relationship with the land.
