To file a complaint about your property assessment:
- Contact the Property Assessment office to speak to a property assessor at 867-667-5268 or toll free in the Yukon 1-800-661-0408, extension 5268.
- If you are not satisfied after speaking to a property assessor, fill out the bottom portion of your assessment notice.
- Submit it within 30 days from the mailing date on your notice. Assessment notices are typically mailed December 15 each year.

Whitehorse, Yukon Y1A 2C6 - Your complaint will go to the Assessment Review Board. You'll be notified 10 days in advance of your hearing date with the time and location.
The Assessment Review Board will:
- review your assessed value; and
- determine if your property was assessed on an equitable basis with similar properties.
The Assessment review board cannot review, control or adjust taxes or tax rates.
Deadline to submit your complaint
You can submit a late complaint up to 90 days from the date we mailed your notice. You must show special circumstances for missing the original 30-day deadline. It is not considered a valid reason if you miss the deadline:
- by accident;
- due to oversight; or
- due to negligence.
The Assessment Appeal Board - an independent board - reviews late complaints. If the Board agrees that special circumstances exist, it may order a new hearing:
- with the Assessment Review Board; or
- directly with the Assessment Appeal Board.
