Ember Fire Academy is a free, intensive program. This program is open to:
- people aged 16 and older;
- all genders historically underrepresented in the fire service, including women and non-binary people.
You'll experience the most challenging and exciting tasks in firefighting and first response in a safe and supportive environment. The hands-on curriculum lets you explore a career in firefighting, jump start your physical fitness and learn new skills you can use anywhere.
You’ll learn to:
- use personal protective equipment and gear;
- cut open a car to free passengers;
- respond to a hazardous materials emergency;
- rescue people from heights using ropes and ladders;
- fight vehicle and structure fires;
- train for functional fitness and performance tests; and
- use proper nutrition for performance workouts.
2026 Ember Fire Academy
The 2026 Ember Fire Academy will be held from August 31 to September 4 in Teslin. Applications are due by Monday, July 13 at 11:59 pm.
Recruits from communities outside Teslin will be provided with accommodation for the week of Ember Fire Academy. Please contact through the details below to learn more.
