For 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada allocated the Yukon a maximum of 215 nominations for the Yukon Nominee Program. This is half the allocation we received in 2024.
In anticipation of demand for the Yukon Nominee Program to significantly exceed available nominations, we introduced a new, strategic approach to nominate foreign workers in 2025. Read the announcement.
We held an Expression of Interest intake for employers interested in applying to the Yukon Nominee Program in 2025. The intake is now closed and we are no longer accepting submissions.
Expression of Interest intake dates
- March 31, 2025: intake opened at 9 am Yukon Standard Time
- April 22, 2025: intake closed at 4:30 pm Yukon Standard Time
How it works
Submitting an Expression of Interest is not an application to the Yukon Nominee Program. It’s a simple online form for employers to provide basic information about the foreign worker they want to nominate without requiring a full application.
After the intake is closed, we’ll invite selected employers from the Expression of Interest pool to apply. These invitations are based on whether their candidate falls into 1 or more of the priority areas.
Priorities for 2025
We’ll prioritize applications for the following foreign workers for the Yukon Nominee Program in 2025:
- Those who have lived and worked in the Yukon for at least 1 year
- Yukon University graduates
- Those who are francophone or French-speaking and take their required language test in French
- Temporary Measure Letter of Support recipients
Eligibility
The Expression of Interest must be completed by an employer, not a foreign worker.
We’ll only accept Expressions of Interest to nominate foreign workers who:
- are currently in Canada on temporary resident status; or
- are not currently in Canada if they:
- are francophone or French-speaking and take their required language test in French;
- fill a position in a regulated health care profession; or
- fill a position in a rural Yukon community.
Required information
The Expression of Interest online form will ask employers to provide basic information about the foreign worker they want to nominate.
We’ll ask you for the following information:
- Business name
- Employer contact information
- Where the position is located
- Foreign worker’s name
- Foreign worker’s citizenship
- Whether the foreign worker is currently in Canada
- How long the foreign worker has lived and worked in the Yukon
- Whether the foreign worker speaks French
- Whether the foreign worker has a Temporary Measure Letter of Support
Multiple foreign workers or employers
You must submit 1 Expression of Interest for each foreign worker you want to nominate.
If the foreign worker has multiple employers, only the primary employer should submit an Expression of Interest.
Available nominations
For 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada allocated the Yukon a maximum of 215 nominations. From the allocation:
- 10 are initially reserved for regulated health care professionals, subject to demand;
- some will be used for 2024 applicants to the Yukon Nominee Program that were carried over and align with 2025 priorities; and
- the remaining can be nominated through the Expression of Interest process.
Submit an Expression of Interest
The deadline to submit an Expression of Interest was 4:30 pm Yukon Standard Time on April 22, 2025. We are no longer accepting submissions.
We held an Expression of Interest intake for employers interested in applying to the Yukon Nominee Program in 2025. The intake was open from March 31 to April 22, 2025. We are no longer accepting submissions.
Submissions received
We received 502 eligible submissions through the Expression of Interest intake. Of those, 392 aligned with the priorities we set for 2025.
We can nominate a maximum of 215 foreign nationals in 2025.
Selection process
As listed in our operational guidance, we’re inviting employers of foreign nationals who received a Temporary Measure Letter of Support to apply first.
We’ll randomly select qualifying submissions to fill the remaining application slots. Qualifying submissions include employers whose candidate(s) falls into 1 or more of the following priority areas:
- foreign nationals who have lived and worked in the Yukon for at least 1 year
- Yukon University graduates
- Francophone or French-speaking candidates that take their required language test in French
Next steps
We're notifying selected employers and sending them instructions on how to submit a full application.
We’ll also notify:
- employers who were not selected to submit a full application at this time but have been added to the random selection pool; and
- employers or individuals who submitted an Expression of Interest but are not eligible.
Nominations issued
As of July 1, we’ve issued 52 nominations through the Yukon Nominee Program for 2025. We’ll update this number the first week of every month.
You do not need to submit an Expression of Interest if you’re already in the queue from 2024. We’ll contact you with more information.
In 2024, we received more applications for the Yukon Nominee Program than we had allocations. We used all our allocations and nominated 430 people in 2024. We carried over 167 applications to 2025.
We’ll process carried over applications that align with our priorities for 2025. The 2025 priorities for foreign workers are those who:
- have lived and worked in the Yukon for at least 1 year;
- are Yukon University graduates;
- are francophone or French-speaking and take their required language test in French; or
- received a Temporary Measure Letter of Support in 2024 or 2025.
The remaining carry-over applications will be considered with applications from the 2025 Expression of Interest if they’re for:
- Foreign nationals who are currently within Canada
- Foreign nationals who are currently outside Canada but who will fill positions in rural communities
We will not process carry-over applications in 2025 if they do not align with any of these areas.
