From May 21 to 25, 2026, tipping fees will be waived on select items at Government of Yukon-run solid waste facilities to support Yukoners with their spring cleanup and FireSmart work on their properties.
Fees will be waived on non-commercial waste that is self-hauled in either a car, pickup truck or small utility trailer. Acceptable waste includes untreated wood and uncontaminated brush, wooden furniture, mattresses and box springs, household waste, construction and demolition waste and free-store items.
Tipping fees will still apply on all end-of-life vehicles, scrap metals, appliances and commercial loads.
A deep spring clean is a long-standing tradition for many Yukoners. Our government is pleased to support residents as they tidy up or make their properties more FireSmart by helping them properly dispose of waste.
-
During the tipping fee holiday, all participating solid waste facilities will be open during hours specified on site-specific posters.
-
Hazardous waste, recycling and composting fees (where applicable) remain free at all Yukon government-run waste transfer stations.
-
The City of Whitehorse will also waive residential tipping fees at the Waste Management Facility from May 21 to 25.
