Statement from Premier Pemberton on Parliamentary Secretary Turnbull’s visit to the Yukon

Premier Mike Pemberton, on behalf of Minister of Finance Sandy Silver, has issued the following statement:

“Yesterday, I welcomed Ryan Turnbull, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and National Revenue and to the Secretary of State (Canada Revenue Agency and Financial Institutions), to Whitehorse for his first visit to the Yukon.

“We had a productive conversation about what matters most to Yukoners – making life more affordable, building strong communities and improving access to health care and energy. I shared our territory’s priorities for the upcoming federal budget and highlighted where we need continued federal support. This includes investing in northern infrastructure to support growth and exploring ways to better meet the financial needs of Yukoners.

“I emphasized how important it is for the Yukon to be part of the national conversation, especially when it comes to decisions that directly impact people’s everyday lives. I reaffirmed the Yukon’s commitment to the Team Canada approach and working closely with the federal government – because when we work together, we get more done for Yukoners and Canadians.

“These conversations are important in ensuring Yukoners’ priorities are reflected in national decision making, especially as the next federal budget takes shape. I want to thank Parliamentary Secretary Turnbull for his visit. I look forward to building on this conversation and continuing to work to improve the lives of Yukoners.”
