New templates, user guide available to help Yukoners draft enduring powers of attorney

To support Yukoners drafting their enduring powers of attorney without hiring a lawyer, the Yukon government has developed user-friendly templates and a user guide.

An enduring power of attorney is a legal document that lets a person choose someone they trust to manage their finances, investments, bill payments and property in the future.

In August 2025, the government amended the Enduring Power of Attorney Act to allow Yukoners to have more modern options when planning their financial futures by creating their own enduring powers of attorney.

Our government is working to make financial planning more accessible, which is an important step toward ensuring Yukoners’ wishes are respected if they anticipate they may become unable to make decisions on their own. The new templates and user guide expand Yukoners’ options when planning for their financial future.

 Minister of Justice Laura Lang
